The full name of AGV is Automated Guided Vehicle, which means automatic guided vehicle in Chinese. It mainly refers to an automatic transportation vehicle based on navigation technology that does not require manual driving. The full name of AMR is Autonomous Mobile Robot, which means autonomous mobile robot in Chinese, mainly referring to some mobile robots with strong autonomy.
AGV mainly refers to vehicles that solve the problem of unmanned handling and transportation in industrial logistics. Early AGVs can only move through guide lines on the ground. With the development of navigation technology, the positioning problem has been solved by high-level reflectors and positioning lidars, which do not require physical guide lines. At present, this type of AGV is also called LGV. At the same time, with the improvement of visual technology positioning and navigation problems, VGV and other devices have also appeared, which can more fully perceive obstacles and map information in the environment.
The concept of AMR comes from the field of robotics. It can actively respond to the light in the environment, and can autonomously avoid obstacles and move. With the development of AI and robotics, the current state-of-the-art AMR robots can autonomously identify the surrounding environment, locate according to sensors, determine routes based on real-time conditions, and intelligently bypass obstacles to reach the destination.
Although the concepts of AGV and AMR are different, there is a strong overlap in the application of industrial scenarios, and they are widely used in logistics and transportation scenarios. In the logistics scene of factories and warehouses, the current labor force is still the mainstream, and AMR and AGV have good results in different scenarios, which also requires the development and popularization of technology.
