There have been so many movies warning us about Humans being replaced by robots. Industries have also been introducing robots into their daily operations, Construction, Logistics, Service etc.
And with the adoption of robotics, many workers fear for their jobs. Many fears for their existence in the company/facility. This often results in a counter-productive outcome when management introduce robotics and operators are concerned for their future.
However, are their fears justified? One hotel in South Africa recently became the first establishment to introduce the use of robot staff, showing off how these mechanical friends can save the day without replacing human counterparts. These robots assist guests with room service, travel information and even luggage delivery.
With COVID, using the robots addresses traveler’s desire for socially distanced interactions. The hotel has received positive feedbacks from their guests and proved the feasibility of robots in the service industry.
Besides service robots, another option that could increase productivity are robot cleaners.
