On October 24, the finals of the 21st RoboGame Robot Contest of the University of Science and Technology of China kicked off in the school. The theme of this year's competition is shooting competitive robots. The competition requires robots designed by participating teams that can accurately identify and grab basketballs on the simulated court, and cross the obstacle zone before making a shot. The judges will decide the winner based on the teams taking the ball and shooting within the specified time. A total of 23 teams signed up for the competition this year, passed the preliminary points system qualifiers, and finally 12 teams entered the finals.
It is understood that the RoboGame Robot Contest requires participating teams to design and build robots by themselves within 5 months, based on specific competition themes and rules. All registered team members are juniors and below of the school, and each team has no more than 5 members. The school encourages students to form teams across faculties.
"The purpose of the competition is to encourage the participating team members to comprehensively use the knowledge they have learned, give full play to their ingenious creative ideas, and design and develop new and unique robots, which fully stimulate the students' outstanding innovation vitality and the courage to challenge the fighting spirit." Event organizer, China University of Science and Technology Said Dong Erbao, associate professor of the School of Engineering Science.
