Xiaomi Automobile Gigafactory is a highly intelligent "black light factory" that was officially unveiled on March 19 this year. The famous CCTV host Sa Beining also went to visit the camp.

According to Xiaomi Auto's plan, its factory will be constructed in two phases: the first phase covers an area of nearly 720,000 square meters, will start in April 2022 and be completed in June 2023; the second phase is planned to start in 2024 and be completed in 2025.

Xiaomi Automobile Factory has specially built six workshops for its new energy vehicles: stamping, die-casting, bodywork, painting, battery, and final assembly. It has introduced more than 700 robots to achieve high-quality delivery with advanced automated production, and can realize large-scale die-casting, stamping , body connection, body assembly, painting, final assembly and other key processes are 100% automated. A brand new Xiaomi SU7 can roll off the production line every 76 seconds.

At Xiaomi Auto's first technology conference, the technology that Mr. Lei was most proud of was die-casting, which is regarded as one of Xiaomi's five core self-developed technologies.

In the large die-casting workshop, "steel behemoths" are constantly operating. One die-casting machine alone has a clamping force of 9,100 tons. It occupies an area as large as two basketball courts and can stamp and weld the original 72 parts. The finished car rear panel is die-cast in one step, and the whole process only takes about 100 seconds.

The paint shop is equipped with 75 painting robots for fully automatic spraying, achieving 100% automation rate; the body shop has customized and developed a 100% automatic assembly system for outer covering parts, with an assembly accuracy of up to ±0.5mm for the body frame. Cooperating with the AMR logistics robot, the visual Parts robots, etc., realize complete automation of medium and large automatic logistics parts loading, connection, assembly and adjustment.


In the material transportation process, Xiaomi does not use traditional AGV cars, but uses more advanced AMR vision robots. Through AI and lidar sensing, there is no need to lay electromagnetic guidance lines on the ground like past AGVs.

In the body shop, there are a total of 94 such AMRs, which come from Guozi Robots. They realize mixed dispatching of multiple models and sizes of carriers, meet the 7mm process accuracy requirement, provide logistics support for intelligent automobile manufacturing, and can achieve 100% automated transportation of heavy items.


In the assembly workshop, the front and rear windshields and glass canopy of SU7 are automatically assembled by robotic arms, and the installation accuracy is controlled within 0.5mm. When the battery and body are assembled together, high-precision automated equipment is also relied on, and the entire process takes less than 30 seconds.


The inspection process is also done by machines. The X-Eye intelligent quality inspection system can replace the human eye in identifying and pointing out defects with an accuracy of over 99.9%. The appearance of the entire vehicle also uses 100% fully automated UV detection, with a measurement accuracy of ±0.05m.

The automotive air-conditioning electrical inspection system, production line manufacturing execution system (MES) provided by Luoshi realizes comprehensive interaction with the customer's warehouse management system (WMS), logistics palletizing scheduling system, etc., promoting the automation and informatization of the production process, greatly It improves production efficiency and provides comprehensive guarantee for product quality.
