London Heathrow Airport Uses Disinfection Robots As One Of The Epidemic Prevention Measures

Oct 28, 2021

London Heathrow Airport has installed disinfection robots, which can move freely in the airport terminal, and perform key disinfection and cleaning of high-risk areas such as toilets and elevator rooms. The disinfection robot mainly uses ultraviolet light (UV-C) to kill the virus and prevent its reinfection. The disinfection robot can disinfect an area of 18,000 square feet (about 1670 square meters) within two and a half hours, and then the cleaning staff will clean it again. One treatment can achieve the best effect of disinfection and cleaning.

Industrial robot is essentially a multi-joint manipulator or a multi-degree-of-freedom machine device oriented to the industrial field, which realizes various functions by its own power and control capabilities. The upstream of the industrial robot industry chain is the core components: including reducers, servo systems, and controllers; the midstream is the robot body manufacturing, and the downstream is the system integration.

Human biological vision has powerful functions, coupled with its perfect information processing method, is the key learning area of intelligence research. People hope to use biological vision as a blueprint to study an artificial vision system and apply it to robots, the purpose is to make the robot have human-like ability to perceive the environment. To perceive information from the outside world, a robot must rely on various sensors. Among the many perception sensors of the robot, the vision system provides most of the external information. According to technical classification, robot vision includes monocular vision, binocular stereo vision, multi-eye vision, panoramic vision, etc. Various robot visions have different advantages and disadvantages and application fields.

From 2017 to 2019, mobile robots maintained steady growth, with a compound growth rate of about 20%. With the continuous upgrading of mobile robot technology, it has been able to realize autonomous planning of paths, intelligent obstacle avoidance, and long-distance transportation across plant areas. In severe epidemic areas, it can replace medical staff on the frontline of the epidemic, effectively reducing human-to-human contact and reducing the risk of infection. The epidemic will accelerate the exploration of unmanned distribution and unmanned chemical factories by robot companies. Unmanned logistics that focuses on safety, efficiency and instant service will usher in development, and the demand for mobile robots will increase rapidly. It is predicted that the compound will be compounded in 2020-2022. The growth rate exceeds 30%.
