How Has The Popular Commercial Service Robot Developed in The Past Two Years?

On July 17, IDC released the "China Market Share of Commercial Service Robots 2022" report, showing that the overall scale of the Chinese market for commercial service robots in 2022 is 169 million US dollars, a slight decrease of 2.5% year-on-year.

The report pointed out that the Chinese market for commercial service robots is obviously polarized. Qinglang Intelligent and Gaoxian Automation have obvious leading advantages in catering delivery and commercial cleaning respectively. The two companies together account for about 50% of the overall market share of commercial service robots. Specifically, the market share of Qinglang Intelligent and Gaoxian Automation is about 25%, and catering delivery and commercial cleaning have become the largest application scenarios of commercial service robots.

The industry concentration of local application scenarios has further increased, especially the catering service robot market CR2 (market concentration rate, the sum of the first and second market shares) has further increased to 83.6%, of which Qinglang Intelligent's market share has exceeded 60%, increasing from 48.6% in 2021 to 60.4% in 2022.

In hotels, shopping malls, restaurants, scenic spots, and convenience stores, the guidance, delivery, security and other services provided by eloquent robots have become interesting and daily digital scenes around many people. At the same time, commercial service robots have also become a popular track for entrepreneurship and innovation.

According to the "2022 China Service Robot Industry Research Report", in the past three years, the number of service robot-related companies in China has increased by 296%, exceeding 100,000. According to statistics, from 2018 to the third quarter of 2022, there were 500 financing events for robot-related companies, with a total financing amount of nearly 84 billion yuan. Among them, among the 254 companies that received investment, companies with commercial service robots as their main products accounted for more than 60%.

Commercial robots are usually composed of sensors, electronic control systems, actuators, computing devices and other components. With the development of AI technology and the decline in the cost of core components, the rise of commercial service robots has alleviated the shortage of labor resources caused by the intensification of global aging and greatly reduced labor costs. For modern enterprises, it is also an important means of differentiation, which is conducive to enhancing the differentiation between stores and brand competitiveness. For customers, smart robots bring a new consumer experience. While liberating service manpower, customers can enjoy more thoughtful and meticulous services.

Nowadays, commercial robot products are more intelligent, and are gradually expanding in the fields of service, medical care, health, education, etc., showing a booming development trend. As the process of domestic substitution accelerates, more and more companies are beginning to adopt domestic key components, thereby reducing the production cost of robot products, and will eventually achieve complete substitution.

Li Junlan, research manager of IDC China Emerging Technology Research Department, said, "After the adjustment in 2022, most robot suppliers have adjusted their organizational structure and business direction to the best state to meet the new development stage of the market. In 2023, the economic situation will rise, downstream customer demand will recover, and the application of service robots in sinking markets, new industries and new scenarios will also be further expanded. China's commercial service robot market is recovering vigorously."
